Who We Are: Who Can We Help:

The Fresno Health Consumer Center (FHCC) is part of a united effort of eight legal service agencies skilled and experienced at addressing the health care problems of consumers.

 

FHCC staff seeks to help consumers access health care services through education, empowerment, representation, problem solving, and self help.

 

 Services FHCC Provides:

FHCC staff provides free legal assistance  with the following issues:

Telephone Advice
Advice about health care options
and rights

Access to Health Care
Overcoming barriers to health care

Medical Debt Collection
Assisting with unlawful medical debt collection actions by hospitals, health care providers, and collection agencies

Advocacy
Help with telephone calls, writing letters or filing grievances with HMOs, hospitals, and clinics. Help resolve problems with health care plans

Representation
Individual representation in state administrative hearing appeals, managed care plan grievance hearings and appeals to court

Outreach
Public education and empowerment outreach to low income communities

To organizations with expertise with a particular program

 


The Fresno Health Consumer Center helps low income Fresno County Residents get access to health care services. FHCC provides information and individual assistance on a variety of health care programs, including:

 

  • Medi-Cal
  • Healthy Families
  • Mental Health Services
  • In Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
  • Medically Indigent Services Program
  • California Children Services (CCS)
  • Private Insurance
  • Special programs for people without    health insurance

FHCC welcomes anyone interested in an internship or volunteer work. If you are interested in health care advocacy we encourage you to contact our office.
